The unwind of Disney’s special tax district raises great questions regarding public/private agreements and partnerships. Is it right that Disney received a special right for the last sixty years to self-govern while the rest of the small business community and corporate world deals with local and state ordinances, permits and approvals, etc., which cost the private sector billions in time and dollars? Many articles including this one unwittingly confess that Disney operates a more efficient business without local and state interference. Wouldn’t the same be true for all businesses?
